AI Pivot
DXO Year Ahead Directions Summit
IT Leadership Events and Year Ahead Summits and Directions have been part of the IDG enterprise events roadmaps, globally through the years. In Pakistan, we soft launched CIO Pakistan at an IT Leadership event in 2008, then followed up with the annual Year Ahead Summits 2009 onwards. Year Ahead was also responsible for bringing in the World Economic Forum for the first time to speak to the tech community in Pakistan and get a survey going for the global readiness index. This happened in 2010 and 2011 both after which WEF found formal partners to have a Pakistan node for their research, from our event invitees.
In 2017 we revamped CIO Year Ahead to become the CXO Verve Congress and in 2025 we are revamping it once again for the post covid era to, DXO Year Ahead Directions Enterprise Digital Leadership Summit.
The Middle East, Türkiye, and Africa (META) region is on the cusp of a significant transformation, driven by the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (GenAI). Governments and businesses are actively rolling out AI and GenAI strategies, shifting from experimentation to scaled adoption and from proof of concept to proof of value. In Pakistan, for instance, there is a growing recognition of the potential of AI to drive economic growth, improve governance, and enhance citizen services. As the country continues to invest in its digital infrastructure, we can expect to see increased adoption of AI and GenAI solutions across various industries.
This transition will accelerate investments in AI capabilities across various areas, including infrastructure, platforms, foundation models, governance, data architectures, and skills. The future of AI-driven digital business will require significant transformations in public and dedicated cloud architectures, cybersecurity, governance, and risk strategies, as well as investments in datacenter infrastructure capacity. Tech vendors, suppliers, and service providers in the region can capitalize on substantial opportunities emerging from this transition. However, to effectively tap into these opportunities in 2025 and beyond, they will need to significantly augment their services portfolios, delivery models, and partner and ecosystem strategies.
IDC highlights seven critical areas to focus on:
1. AI and GenAI strategies: Developing cohesive strategies to harness the power of AI and GenAI.
2. Unified AI platforms: Essential for orchestrating AI efforts at scale. By 2028, 75% of enterprises with a cohesive AI platform strategy are expected to reap significant rewards.
3. Data management: Critical, as “dark data” can hinder AI ambitions. IDC predicts a surge in multicloud data logistic platforms and data-as-a-product architectures to tackle this challenge.
4. Infrastructure transformation: Robust infrastructure is necessary for scaling AI. IDC expects a shift towards hybrid, fit-for-purpose infrastructure to optimize performance and cost. By 2028, 75% of enterprise AI workloads are predicted to be deployed on hybrid fit-for-purpose infrastructure.
5. Cloud architectures and cybersecurity: The future of AI-driven digital business will require significant transformations in public and dedicated cloud architectures, cybersecurity, governance, and risk strategies.
6. Governance, risk, and compliance: A review of governance, risk, and compliance strategies will be necessary to ensure AI-driven digital business is secure and compliant.
7. Investments in AI capabilities: Accelerating investments in AI capabilities across infrastructure, platforms, foundation models, governance, data architectures, and skills will be critical for success.
